Garrett Foster is a Mental Health Counselor-Limited Permit (MHC-LP) in the State of New York. He earned his Master of Science in Mental Health Counseling from Manhattan University and brings a unique professional background to the therapy room, having previously served as a firefighter in New Orleans.
Throughout his years in the fire service, Garrett witnessed both the resilience and vulnerability of people navigating some of life's most difficult moments. While responding to emergencies, he found that the aspect of the job he valued most was connecting with people during times of crisis, loss, and uncertainty. This experience ultimately inspired his transition into mental health counseling, where he could continue supporting others through healing, growth, and meaningful change.
Drawing from Rational Emotive Behavior Therapy (REBT), Person-Centered Therapy, and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Garrett tailors treatment to each client's unique needs and goals. He believes therapy should be both supportive and transformative, a place where clients feel accepted as they are while being challenged to grow into who they want to become. Through a collaborative therapeutic relationship, Garrett helps clients develop greater self-awareness, build practical coping skills, and create lasting, meaningful change.
